Stryker Hip Implant Lawsuits

On August 29, 2016, Stryker Corporation initiated a voluntary recall of its LFIT V40 femoral head components that had been manufactured prior to 2011. Stryker reported that it has received "higher than expected" complaints of problems with this device. Among the potential hazards associated with the Stryker LFIT V40 femoral head is excessive metallic debris, fractured hip stem, insufficient range of motion, and disassociation of the femoral head from the hip stem.

Australian Government has Issued a Hazard Alert for the Stryker LFIT V40

On September 27, 2016, the Australian Department of Health Therapeutic Goods Administration issued a Hazard Alert regarding the Stryker LFIT V40 femoral head. The alert advised consumers and professionals that some LFIT V40 femoral heads manufactured prior to 2011 have a higher than expected incidence of taper lock failures. The taper lock is the part of the implant that connects the femoral head to the femoral neck.
