A wreck that occurred in Jefferson County, Colorado, on August 13 killed one person and injured two others who were traveling along US-6. The motor vehicle accident involved three cars total.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the auto accident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m when an eastbound pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic and struck a westbound Oldsmobile. The collision caused the Oldsmobile to spin into eastbound traffic on the roadway where the car was hit by a tractor-trailer. That second collision killed the car’s passenger instantly.
The driver of the Oldsmobile was taken to a local hospital along with the driver of the tractor-trailer. The pickup truck’s driver was not injured. The crashes forced troopers to close Central City Parkway, and CSP warned drivers to stay away from the accident site.
A fatal car accident can lead to financial instability for victims’ families. Medical bills incurred by a decedent prior to his or her passing as well as funeral expenses are examples of costs that could fall on surviving family members after a deadly crash. Additionally, if such individuals relied on the victim’s income to pay bills, they could be thrown into a state of financial instability in the aftermath of an auto accident.
When there is the possibility that a negligent driver may have been the cause of a deadly auto accident, family members of the decedent may want to explore their legal options for recompense. Retaining an attorney to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit could allow a plaintiff of such litigation to recover damages that would be awarded to compensate for the financial harm caused by a crash victim’s passing.
