Two vehicles were involved in an auto accident on the evening of March 6 in Aurora. One driver was fatally injured, according to reports, and investigators suggested that alcohol may have played a role in how the incident occurred.

According to police reports, a Chevy Silverado pickup had been traveling on East Iliff Ave toward Blackhawk Street in Aurora. A Subaru, heading north, approached the intersection of East Iliff and South Blackhawk around the same time as the pickup. As the driver of the Subaru turned west onto East Iliff, the Silverado reportedly ran a red light and struck the side of the Subaru. The driver of the Silverado, a male, suffered minor injuries, said authorities. No other passengers were present. The driver of the Subaru, however, suffered fatal injuries in the impact. According to reports, the victim, a male, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The driver was the only occupant of the Subaru. Both vehicles exhibited signs of severe damage due to the accident.

Any car accident carries the potential to endanger the people involved. The nature of some wrecks, however, can result in fatalities. If a victim suffers fatal injuries in an accident, the family of the victim often have to manage unexpected financial costs, such as funeral expenses or the loss of a household income while coping with the emotional pain and suffering commonly experienced after a loved one’s death. In some cases, the family may want to take legal action to recover some of the losses.

The family members of an accident victim may find that the financial cost of the accident is as serious as the emotional impact. A lawyer could determine if the family possesses enough evidence indicative of the liable party’s role in the accident that caused the victim’s death and seek compensation for the family’s losses.
