A fatal crash has taken the life of a professional video gamer and an associate, according to local news. The 25-year-old man died on Oct. 2 after losing control of his vehicle. As with all fatal motor vehicle accidents, Colorado authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash.
At the moment, reports are fairly vague. It has been confirmed by his girlfriend that the man lost control of his vehicle while driving in Aurora. The car left the road and struck a utility pole, as well as several trees, before coming to rest. The driver was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries; he was later pronounced dead.
His passenger, who has not been identified by police at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Police have not commented on what they believe to have been the cause of the crash. They have not spoken publicly about whether they believe recklessness, negligence or intoxication were involved. Their investigation is still underway as of this report.
While fatal motor vehicle accidents are always tragic, law enforcement must weigh the responsibility for the crash effectively to determine whether the driver contributed materially to the accident. As a second person was killed in this crash, Colorado police will pay special attention to the events leading up to the crash to determine if the driver contributed in a material way to the accident. If it is found that he did, the family of his passenger may be in a position to file a wrongful death suit against the driver’s estate for his role in the death of their family member.
