Did You Have Essure Implants Removed Due To Serious Problems?
Essure devices offer a nonsurgical, nonhormonal, permanent solution to birth control. It sounds too good to be true – and unfortunately for many women, it is.
Since Essure was approved in 2002, hundreds of women across the nation have filed lawsuits against the manufacturer, Bayer, claiming that the implants caused significant injuries. If you believe that you or a female family member was seriously harmed by this dangerous product, it is in your best interest to consult a product liability lawyer as soon as possible.
At The Mahoney Law Firm, P.C., we have been handling serious cases like these since 1968. Founding attorney Dennis M. Mahoney, M.D., is a licensed obstetrician as well as a legal advocate with more than 40 years of experience. Together he and his sons provide diligent, effective representation to injured individuals across Colorado and Wyoming.
In Only Three Years, The FDA Received More Than 5,000 Complaints
From November 2002 to May 2015, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received more than 5,000 reports of health problems related to Essure devices. In February 2016, the FDA ordered Bayer to include a “black box” warning on the product, explaining that it could potentially cause severe or even debilitating side effects.
These potential side effects may include:
- Autoimmune diseases
- Punctured fallopian tubes or uterus
- Intense pain in the pelvic region
- Ectopic pregnancies
In some cases, trying to remove a defective Essure implant is just as dangerous. Many women have required multiple surgeries or complete removal of the uterus through a hysterectomy. In turn, hysterectomies come with their own potential side effects, including infection, kidney failure, perforated organs, menopause symptoms and strokes.
Staying On The Cutting Edge Of Legal Developments
The Mahoney Law Firm, P.C., stays abreast of ever-evolving case law in this area of practice. While some courts say that federal law pre-empts injury victims from filing lawsuits against Bayer, at least one court has ruled the other way. You can count on our law firm to clearly and accurately explain your legal rights and options.
